This unique project helps the hospitalized children to better cope with illness via play and computer technology, such as Internet, Tele-Conferencing and Multimedia Computer Games. It offers children a special play space in a unique environment where they can forget their illness and treatments.
The center is run under the Auspices of Yeladim Shelanu (Our children Foundation) volunteers along with a professional staff.
Hours of activity: Sunday -Thursday, between 09.00 - 19.00 (between the hours 12.00 - 15.00, the Starlight Center is open to the Oncology Department only).
The activities are available to the hospitalized children from the age of 10 months onward and their parents. Children of all ages find activities suitable to their needs and desires.
This project serves about 13,000 people per year. This number will increase once we start operating the "laptop project" in which the Starlight volunteers will bring laptops to the children who are not able to come to the Starlight Center.
Also, in order to make the waiting period in the outpatient clinic a bit nicer for the children we devised a system called "Star-Zoom". The children receive beepers at the clinics, which allow them to wait for their procedure at the Starlight Center. They are then beeped when their turn comes.
